Jamie Davis is the drummer with Dublin improv group Zeropunkt. 'Power City' is his second outing as Ddrome for Cruel Nature, following 2021's 'Beyond The Thunderddrome'.

'Power City sees a shift away from the long format tracks of its predecessor. The familiar drum/drone collision still being in evidence augmented at times with more space and the bare bones of melody.

"As a follow up to 2021’s ‘Beyond the Thunderddrome’, Dublin based drummer Jamie Davis moves into more ambient terrain with ‘Power City’. Although his jazzy drums still play a part in the sound of the record, they take a back seat this time in favour of more ethereal and spooky atmospheres. There are even hints of This Heat evident in some tracks. This, of course is a very good thing."

"Jamie Davis is the drummer with Dublin improv group Zeropunkt. This is his second album as DDrome. These tracks are the melding of drones of fluctuating sound with Jamie’s drumming worked into the sound. It’s ethereal and wide open sound make it refreshingly different to my ears and works excellently."

"This is the second tape by Ddrome, a drum plus drone solo project invented by Dublin musician Jamie Davis during the pandemic. Davis is known for his work with the improv trio Zeropunkt, but the sounds here are much less frantic. The bits I’ve heard of the earlier tape mix drums and electronics in equal measure, but power is more focused on the latter. Drums are a constant presence, but they now provide accompaniment to the washes of synthesized sound more than anything else. The main events are keyboardy – slow notes are plunked and set amid what sound like recordings of star clusters. Admittedly, there is evidence aplenty that drums are also present, but their use is about punctuation, not dissertation."
